Version changelog

Overview

This is a written record of the most recent upgrades we've made to our software.

Note

Since Maverick Excelsior is a web app you don't need to install or upgrade anything when a new version is released. The latest version of the software is continuously available when you access our website.

Warning

However, to make sure that you are indeed using the most recent build of the Excelsior Editor, hard-refresh the EDITOR page in your browser. Depending on your system, this can be done with Ctrl+F5, or Ctrl+Click on the refresh button.

The Excelsior Editor displays its Build Number at the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Build 120907

  • Made some adjustments to the edgetint attribute of metals, based on some new measurements from the lab.

Build 120856

  • Added the nolabels attribute to the VIEWER panel.
  • Added the autospin attribute to the VIEWER panel.
  • Added nolabels support to the viewer, which is more convenient than using empty names in the VIEWER panel.
  • Added autospin support to the viewer, so it is now possible to have a viewer auto-spinn from the start.
  • Lifted the 7-day restriction in viewer links.

  • Extended the VIEWER panel to create built-in material configurators.
  • Ability to create material groups with layers with a separate material selector each.

  • Ability to create self-hosted Interactive Viewer Links!
  • New Viewer Links panel in the Dashboard.
  • New VIEWER tab in the Editor.

  • Brand new (much more efficient) website.
  • World-class CDN.
  • We opened the Maverick Excelsior BLOG.
  • Much improved dashboard (customer area) with more accessible billing, account details, etc...
  • Fixed a bug in the orientation of shadows, which weren't always aligned with the rotation of the IBL.
  • Improved SSR when used in conjunction with mirror floor.
  • Improved UI (e.g., bottom toolbar icons).
  • Improved Demo UI (e.g., ability to open other scenes without going back to the start page).
  • Ability to control the output bitrate (quality vs. file size) in the VIDEO panel.

Build 115800

  • Released on jsdelivr.com the first version of the Maverick Excelsior Spinner viewer: v1.0.1.
  • Added a new area in the docs for the Maverick Excelsior Spinner.
  • New RECORD SPINNER feature which produces a .zip file with everything needed to publish a spinner inside.
  • Output images are now high-quality .jpg instead of .png. Hence, considerably smaller.
  • Camera save/restore fixes an offset that was being produced by mismatching H-FOV.
  • The user-set resolution is preserved now when selecting a new ambience.
  • Sharpen settings are preserved now when selecting a new ambience.
  • Mild sharpening is auto-enabled by default now.

Build 88080

  • Transported the documentation area into https://docs.maverickexcelsior.com now with a proper index, search box, and videotutorial transcripts.
  • Fixed a ghost scrollbar that would appear in the viewport when dropping a new model.
  • Fixed a white flash happening in the first frames after a new scene was loaded.
  • Improved the left sidebar toolbar.

Build 84733

  • New option to Save Cameras.
  • New backplate option to Save Colors.
  • The backplate color provided by the user is respected through the rendering toolchain, regardless of tonemapping and lighting settings.
  • Improved text rendering in the editor.
  • General look & feel improvements in the editor UI: Rounded corners in thumbnails, etc...
  • Fixed a compatibility problem affecting Apple devices (iPhone 13 or older).
  • Upgraded the foundations of our core to SDL3.

Build 53680

  • Detached the ambiences library in a per-category shelf.
  • Did some quality touch ups in the ambiences library.

Build 53560

  • Slightly smaller .webex files.
  • Added two more options to the POSE panel. Now it is possible to rotate +/-90 degrees straight.

Build 53300

  • Fixed a memory overflow when recording large-resolution videos that was producing either a freeze, or an incomplete video.
  • Slightly faster video codec (faster video recording).
  • Added a temptative control for image sharpen. This may end up turning to be a built-in preset instead of an option.
