Sharing a viewer online¶
Warning
Online model publishing is only available to PRO subscription plan users.
Overview¶
One of the highlights of Maverick Excelsior is the ability to publish interactive jewelry designs on the web.
Typical use cases of online publishing are:
- Sharing with your customers links to interactive versions of your designs.
- Embedding interactive versions of your designs in your website or in an e-commerce platform.
Note that while you need a PRO subscription to export your designs into the Excelsior Viewer, your audience will not need to enable or install anything to view them.
It is also important to remark that 3D designs published with Maverick Excelsior cannot be stolen. We use proprietary rendering technology and a proprietary file format (.webex) which only can be read by the Excelsior Viewer.
Important
3D designs published with Excelsior cannot be stolen because we use our proprietary file format.
Exporting an interactive model¶
Click the EXPORT INTERACTIVE button to produce a .webex file containing your geometry plus the assigned materials, lighting, and settings.
Before sharing or embedding, you must host this .webex file somewhere online (e.g., on your FTP).
Creating a share-able viewer link¶
The easiest way to let someone experience your design is to create a public viewer link.
METHOD 1: FTP HOSTING¶
- Upload
yourmodel.webexto your FTP in a public folder. -
Let's say that your file is then accessible at:
https://yourdomain.com/directory/yourmodel.webex -
Append said URL to this Viewer prefix:
https://maverickexcelsior.com/viewer/?url= -
Your shareable link becomes:
https://maverickexcelsior.com/viewer/?url=https://yourdomain.com/directory/yourmodel.webex
Below is a working example of a file we uploaded ourselves to the Excelsior website:
You can copy-paste anywhere links generated this way.
Warning
This method has a .webex file-size limit of 32MB.
You may want to shorten the link or even generate a QR code via a service like bitly.com:
Example QR code:
METHOD 2: GOOGLE DRIVE HOSTING¶
If you don't have access to an FTP, you can still use Google Drive:
- Upload your
.webexfile to Google Drive. - Set its sharing to Anyone with the link.
-
Copy the share link, which should look like:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/XXxxXXxxXXxxXXxxXXxxXXxxXXxxXX/view?usp=sharing -
Build a viewer link with the
fileidparameter:https://maverickexcelsior.com/viewer/?fileid=XXxxXXxxXXxxXXxxXXxxXXxxXXxxXX
Like before, you can shorten the link or generate a QR code as needed.
Warning
This method has a .webex file-size limit of 32MB.
Warning
Google Drive policies may change. So use this method for temporary previews only; not for a permanent gallery.
Interactive jewelry in your website¶
To embed interactive content in an e-commerce platform (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce, ...), we recommend that you use an <iframe>.
To embed interactive content in your own website, we recommend that you host an instance of the viewer directly.
| Purpose | Recommended solution |
|---|---|
| Just share an interactive viewer link | Do as described above. |
| Embed an interactive viewer in (e.g.,) Shopify | Embed an <iframe>. |
| Embed an interactive viewer in your website | Host the model viewer yourself. |
Please refer to the next documentation pages for detailed instructions on those more advanced methods.
