Sharing a spinner online

Warning

Online spinners are only available to PRO subscription plan users.

Overview

With Maverick Excelsior it is possible to share interactive 360° spinners of your designs on the web.

Typical use cases of online spinner sharing are:

  • Sharing with your customers links to interactive turntables of your jewelry designs.
  • Creating lightweight, interactive previews that load literally on any device.

Important

Note that while you need a PRO subscription to export your spinner sequences, your audience will not need to enable or install anything to view them.

Preparing your spinner content

Before sharing a spinner online, you need to:

  1. Render an image sequence in Maverick Excelsior using the RECORD SPINNER feature.
  2. Inflate the resulting .zip file. In the ./atlases directory you will find the atlas frames and the poster image.
  3. Upload said image files (atlases and poster) to your web server or CDN.

Important

The spinner uses atlas-based image sequences for optimal loading performance. Each atlas contains multiple frames arranged in a grid.

The easiest way to let someone experience your spinner is to create a public spinner link.

  1. Upload the images to your FTP in a public folder. The files should follow this naming pattern:

    atlas_0000.jpg
    atlas_0001.jpg
    atlas_0002.jpg
    ...
    poster.jpg

  2. Let's say your files are accessible at:

    https://yourdomain.com/spinners/ring/atlas_0000.jpg
    https://yourdomain.com/spinners/ring/atlas_0001.jpg
    https://yourdomain.com/spinners/ring/atlas_0002.jpg
    ...
    https://yourdomain.com/spinners/ring/poster.jpg

  3. Build your spinner URL using the poster parameter:

    https://maverickexcelsior.com/spinner/?poster=https://yourdomain.com/spinners/ring/poster.jpg

  4. Optional parameters can be added:

    https://maverickexcelsior.com/spinner/?poster=https://yourdomain.com/spinners/ring/poster.jpg&frames=135&title=Diamond%20Ring

Parameters explained

Parameter Description Default
poster URL to the poster image (required) -
frames Total number of frames in the sequence 135
nx Number of tiles horizontally in each atlas 4
ny Number of tiles vertically in each atlas 1
title Custom title for the spinner Product Spinner

Sharing via QR codes

You may want to generate a QR code for easy mobile access via a service like bitly.com:

  1. Create your spinner link as described above.
  2. Shorten it using a URL shortener.
  3. Generate a QR code from the shortened URL.

This is particularly useful for product tags in physical stores, business cards, trade show materials, ...
